Producer Highlights the Creative Effort Behind the Film Following Allegations Against Lead Actor

Producer Srikanth Kandragula has shared his views on the ongoing discussion surrounding the upcoming Malayalam film Soothravakyam, stressing the need to support the film and its team without letting off-screen issues dominate the conversation.

The film recently came under public scrutiny after actress Vincy Aloshious filed an official complaint accusing co-actor Shine Tom Chacko of inappropriate behaviour and suspected substance use during the shoot. The complaint was submitted to both the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA).

While acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, Kandragula urged audiences to evaluate the film for its artistic value and not let personal allegations against an individual cast member eclipse the collective effort involved in its creation.

“This film is the result of unwavering dedication from a talented team. We’ve all worked passionately to bring this story to life,” Kandragula said. “I believe the audience will find a powerful emotional connection in this narrative — and that’s what I hope they will focus on.”

He noted the public’s natural interest in the personal lives of actors but encouraged viewers to approach the film independently of any controversies.

“I fully understand the emotions this situation may stir, but a film represents more than one person. It involves the contribution of writers, technicians, designers, editors, and more — all of whom deserve to have their work seen and appreciated on its own merit,” he added.

Kandragula, who hails from outside Kerala, expressed his admiration for Malayalam cinema, explaining how the depth and honesty of its storytelling drew him to collaborate on Soothravakyam.

“Malayalam films have long set a benchmark for emotional realism and strong narratives. That’s what brought me to this project. It has been a deeply inspiring journey, and I hope the film receives the fair consideration it deserves from the audience.”

The ongoing controversy has intensified following the circulation of CCTV footage allegedly showing Shine Tom Chacko leaving a hotel during a narcotics raid conducted by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF). Although Chacko was acquitted in a 2015 drug case, Kerala Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh remarked that the acquittal stemmed from significant lapses in the police investigation.

The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) publicly commended Vincy Aloshious for taking a stand, highlighting broader concerns regarding workplace safety and drug abuse within the industry.

Despite the heightened media attention, Kandragula remains focused on the film’s message and the integrity of the team behind it.

“This project is built on passion and perseverance. Every crew member, every artist has invested their energy to make this film possible. Support from the audience can truly make a difference — both for the film and for everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he said.

Soothravakyam is scheduled for theatrical release later this year.
