Synopsis:
“Geethanjali Malli Vachindhi,” the sequel to the much-awaited “Geethanjali,” marks Anjali’s milestone 50th film. Directed by Shiva Turlapati and produced by Kona Venkat and MVV Satyanarayana, this Telugu horror comedy promises entertainment with a blend of laughs and mild scares.
“Ayaan” (Satya) and “Seenu” (Srinivasa Reddy), an aspiring director duo, face numerous hurdles in their filmmaking journey. Their fortunes take a turn when “Vishnu” (Rahul Madhav), a businessman from Ooty, offers them the opportunity to shoot at his haunted palace, “Sangeeth Mahal.” “Anjali” (Anjali), a coffee shop owner, joins the project as the leading lady. As filming progresses, eerie occurrences unfold, unveiling the secrets hidden within the palace and the mysteries surrounding Vishnu’s intentions.
Highlights:
- Satya’s impeccable comedic timing keeps the audience engaged, supported by Sunil’s commendable performance.
- Anjali delivers a satisfactory portrayal, complemented by a talented ensemble cast.
- The comedy sequences within the ghostly palace evoke laughter, especially in the latter part of the film.
Drawbacks:
- The film’s plot lacks innovation, resulting in predictability and routine proceedings.
- Rahul Madhav’s antagonist character lacks depth and fails to make a significant impact.
- Supporting actors like Ali and Srikanth Iyengar are underutilized, and Anjali’s character suffers from limited screen time.
- The climax feels forced and lacks conviction, diminishing the overall impact of the ghost storyline.
Technical Aspects:
Director Shiva Turlapati’s efforts are commendable, but a stronger emphasis on storytelling and screenplay could have enhanced the film’s quality. Pravin Lakkaraju’s music adds sporadic thrills, while Sujatha Siddhartha’s cinematography falls short of creating immersive visuals. Chota K Prasad’s editing is satisfactory, and the production values meet expectations.
Verdict:
“Geethanjali Malli Vachindhi” offers moments of laughter but falls short in delivering spine-chilling scares. While Satya shines in his comedic role and Anjali maintains her presence, the film’s lack of innovation and underdeveloped characters hinder its potential. Despite its entertainment value, viewers may find themselves seeking alternative options for a more engaging cinematic experience.
